Volunteer: Family Selection & Nurturing Committee Members Needed!

Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, strengthen communities, and empower low-income households. The Family Selection and Nurturing Committee’s purpose is to guide selection and assist households pursuing enrollment into Habitat for Humanity’s Homeownership Program.  The committee also serves to support the families through the transition to becoming homeowners. The Family Selection and Nurturing Committee aims to be thorough in its processes and empathetic to the families we reach.

Our committee members are: Empathetic, Community focused, able to attend monthly meetings via Zoom, and be comfortable mentoring and interviewing Habitat Partner Families.

The monthly time commitment ranges from 2-4 hours a month depending on your level of involvement in the committee.  We are currently kickstarting a Dodge County branch for our families.  We will work to get committee members educated on the Homeownership Program and it's needs.  Once Habitat for Humanity's application cycles back to Dodge County, we will be in session evaluating applicants and following the program requirements.  Then we will be on periodic hiatuses while the applications switch between Washington and Dodge County.  We ask that members commit to at least a year as our families are typically in the program for 1-2 years at least.
